Amazon will phase out Freevee, its free ad-supported streaming service in the coming weeks, per Variety. The platform will integrate Freevee’s content into Prime Video. Its shows will become part of the main Prime Video platform.

An Amazon spokesperson said the move aims to “deliver a simpler viewing experience for customers.” 

Freevee’s shows will still be available to non-Prime subscribers under a “Watch for Free” label within Prime Video for free. Users will gain access to a range of Freevee content, including select Amazon MGM Originals, licensed movies and series, and various FAST channels (free ad-supported TV channels). 

Freevee began as IMDb Freedive in 2019, launched by Amazon-owned IMDb. After rebranding twice, first to IMDb TV and then to Freevee in 2022. Amazon has now decided to fold it into Prime Video, having introduced ads on Prime Video earlier this year. 

Amazon offers Prime Video as part of its $14.99 monthly subscription with ads included. An ad-free option is also available for an additional fee.
