Google has started rolling out its AI Mode to all Search users in the U.S, according to Search Engine Land. For the first time, AI Mode is also showing up in Incognito mode. The rollout means that users no longer need to sign up through Search Labs or be logged into their accounts to access the new experience.

SEO expert Glenn Gabe, who shared screenshots and a breakdown of the layout on X, pointed out that users will now see “AI Overviews” in the top spot, followed by a featured snippet and a new "AI Mode" interface that can appear even in Incognito mode. "Any link you click from AI Mode ends up being the top result," Gabe said.

This update follows Google’s earlier announcement at I/O 2025 in May, where it said AI Mode would soon be available to all users by default. Before now, Google first introduced AI Mode in early March 2025 for a small group of paid subscribers. Later that month, it became available to those who opted into Search Labs. Now, it is available to everyone in the U.S., including users searching privately through Incognito.

What is AI Mode and how does it work?

AI Mode in Search is part of Google’s new approach to making search more assistive. It builds on the Google AI Overviews but adds more interactive features. According to Google, it is "our most powerful AI search" and comes with advanced reasoning, multimodal input, and the ability to ask follow-up questions in a conversational way.

The company said AI Mode is designed to support tasks like comparison shopping or deeper research by summarizing multiple sources and presenting quick answers without leaving the search page.

Users will be able to search using text, voice, and images. For example, users can take a photo of a product, ask a question about it, and receive AI-generated insights plus links to continue exploring.
