Google Shopping is adding new AI tools for users to find and visualize fashion and beauty products. The updates include AI-powered search refinements, AR beauty try-ons, and an expanded virtual try-on feature for clothing.

AI-powered search suggestions for fashion shopping

Google says mobile users in the U.S. can now type a description of what they’re looking for, and Google’s AI will generate visual suggestions with similar shoppable products. For example, if a user searches for a product, Google’s AI will display images of similar dresses available for purchase.

Users can adjust their search. They can scroll to the “Can’t find it? Create it” prompt, where Google will suggest ideas based on their input. Then, shoppers can browse through AI-generated product recommendations and shop directly from Google.

The tool is open to all mobile users in the U.S. and is accessible on Search and the Shopping tab.

This feature could mean more visibility for products, especially as users search with detailed descriptions rather than specific brand names. Optimizing product listings with clear, descriptive attributes will be key to surfacing in these AI-driven search results.

Google’s AR beauty try-on gets an upgrade with Gemini AI

Google is also updating its AR beauty feature, allowing users to try on and shop for makeup looks inspired by celebrities, influencers, and beauty trends. The feature will be powered by Google’s Gemini models and available to U.S. users this week.

The platform says the new tool will let shoppers search for specific makeup looks—such as “spring makeup” or a celebrity’s beauty style and try on the products virtually before making a purchase.

This builds on Google’s existing AR beauty try-on experience, which previously allowed users to test out lipstick and foundation shades from select brands. Now, shoppers can test with full beauty looks, layering multiple makeup products virtually.

Virtual try-on expands to skirts and pants

Google is extending its virtual try-on feature beyond tops and dresses, now allowing users to visualize skirts and pants from various brands across the web. The feature uses advanced machine learning models to simulate how clothing fits on different body types.

Shoppers can access this tool through Google Search or the Google Shopping tab on mobile and desktop. Any clothing item with a “try on” badge can be previewed on a diverse set of real models with different sizes.

According to Google, the company’s machine learning models now generate a complete outfit preview, showing the selected item and how it pairs with other clothing and footwear.
