Netflix and Spotify have partnered to bring video podcasts to Netflix’s platform, beginning in the US in early 2026. According to the announcement, audiences will be able to watch a curated selection of Spotify Studios and The Ringer video podcasts across various categories as part of Netflix’s library.

Reports in February indicated the company had discussed video podcasting with creators and talent agents. The new deal formalizes those efforts. Spotify and The Ringer will contribute 16 series to Netflix’s roster. Titles slated for launch include The Bill Simmons Podcast, Conspiracy Theories, The Rewatchables, and Ringer shows covering the NFL, NBA, F1, Fantasy Football, and true crime series like Serial Killers.

What’s coming to Netflix

Under the agreement, Netflix will host a mix of sports, culture, lifestyle, and true crime podcasts produced by Spotify Studios and The Ringer, a network Spotify acquired in 2020. Some of the featured titles include The Bill Simmons Podcast, The Ringer F1 Show, The Rewatchables, The Big Picture, and crime series like Conspiracy Theories and Serial Killers.

The companies said the partnership “complements Netflix’s existing programming” and is designed to “unlock new audiences and wider distribution for the shows.” The collection is expected to appear alongside Netflix’s traditional catalog of films, series, and documentaries.

Netflix and Spotify see a shared opportunity

The deal signals Netflix’s growing interest in alternative content formats. It aims to give podcasters access to Netflix’s large subscriber base, potentially expanding reach beyond native podcast platforms. Lauren Smith, Netflix’s VP of content licensing and programming strategy, said the collaboration “adds fresh voices and new perspectives to Netflix.”

The partnership also extends Spotify’s video podcast reach beyond its own app. “This partnership marks a new chapter for podcasting,” said Roman Wasenmüller, Spotify’s Head of Podcasts. “Together with Netflix, we’re expanding discovery, helping creators reach new audiences, and giving fans around the world the chance to experience the stories they love and uncover favorites they never expected.”

A growing market for video podcasts

Video formats are becoming more central to podcasting. The global podcast market is valued at around $39.6 billion in 2025. Both companies appear to be looking for new ways to engage audiences as competition for streaming attention continues to grow.

However, Netflix will be entering a market dominated by platforms like YouTube. YouTube has seen a surge in podcast viewership, reporting that users watched 400 million hours of podcasts on TV screens in 2024. The platform remains the dominant player in this space, attracting over one billion listeners each month, according to company data.
