Reddit is rolling out three new shopping ad tools at Shoptalk 2026: Collection Ads, Community and Deal Overlays, and a native Shopify integration. The announcements build on Reddit's Dynamic Product Ads business, launched to all advertisers last year.

The three new tools

According to Reddit, Collection Ads combine a lifestyle hero image or video with a row of shoppable product tiles drawn from the advertiser's catalog. The format addresses a gap in Reddit's ad suite: previously, the platform's inventory was better suited to awareness and consideration than product-level discovery.

Community and Deal Overlays add platform-native labels to ads, including "Redditors' Top Pick" designations and automatic discount and sale highlights pulled from the advertiser's catalog data. The overlays are currently in testing. The "Redditors' Top Pick" label converts Reddit's community endorsement patterns into a visible trust indicator at the point of ad exposure, a signal type unavailable on other social platforms.

The company says the Shopify integration, currently in alpha, will simplify catalog setup and pixel implementation for Shopify merchants and automates product selection based on user context rather than manual feed configuration. The integration targets DTC brands for whom the technical overhead of connecting Reddit to an existing catalog has been a barrier.

Reddit against Pinterest and TikTok Shop

Pinterest has built its value proposition around intent-driven product discovery, and Collection Ads enter that territory directly. The format uses visual product tiles to connect a lifestyle image to a shoppable catalog, closely mirroring how Pinterest presents commerce content.

TikTok Shop and Meta Shops operate on a different model: impulse-driven and creator-led, powered by entertainment and social proof. Reddit's structural differentiator is that its users typically arrive with research intent already active, looking for peer-informed recommendations rather than responding to algorithmic entertainment. The "Redditors' Top Pick" overlay is the most explicit attempt to convert that behavioral difference into a tangible ad product.

For brands already managing Reddit campaigns through Pacvue, Collection Ads and Community Overlays will be available through the same unified buying interface. The Shopify integration, once out of alpha, will further reduce onboarding friction for DTC brands that have been running Dynamic Product Ads.
