TikTok is introducing Agentic Leads, an AI agent that turns the lead form into a conversation and qualifies a prospect before the advertiser follows up. TikTok announced it on 5 October in its Advertising Week announcement, one of several agentic tools for advertisers unveiled at Advertising Week New York 2026.
The agent, called Lead Agent, will run in two places. One is TikTok Direct Message. The other is the lead form on an advertiser's own website, which takes an agent TikTok supplies off TikTok and onto a page the advertiser owns.
How Lead Agent Works
Advertisers start by building a Knowledge Base of brand-approved information, such as offer details, FAQs and eligibility requirements, according to TikTok's For Business blog post. They then decide which of that information the agent can reference and which questions matter most for qualification.
From there, the agent answers whatever the prospect asks and gathers the qualification details as the conversation goes. When the person is ready, it captures their contact information with consent. The advertiser receives the lead along with the context behind it, which TikTok pitches as material for sales teams to personalise their follow-up.
TikTok's own examples are long, considered decisions rather than impulse buys. A prospective student asks whether a program works alongside a full-time job. A car shopper compares models and financing before booking a test drive. A dental patient checks whether a clinic can treat a specific problem.
Why Qualification Is the Point
Lead quality is a long-standing complaint in lead-generation advertising. A standard form records a name and contact details, and the work of separating serious prospects from casual ones falls to the sales team afterwards.
Agentic Leads moves that sorting into the conversation itself. Because the advertiser writes the qualification questions, each lead arrives with the answers attached rather than as a bare form submission. For advertisers, the measure that matters shifts from how many forms were filled to how many conversations ended with a prospect worth calling.
The website surface is the less familiar move. Conversational lead formats on social platforms have mostly lived inside the platform's own messaging, as with Meta's click-to-message ads. An agent from TikTok running on the advertiser's own lead form puts TikTok in the position of a website chat vendor, not only the platform that bought the click.
Part of TikTok's Agentic Push
Lead Agent is one of three agentic solutions in the announcement. The other two cover purchases rather than leads, and TikTok also announced one-click checkout and a shopping assistant for that end of the journey.
On the media-buying side, TikTok has spent the year handing campaign work to AI agents. On 30 June it launched Agentic Hub, a marketplace of prebuilt AI Skills that run on its TikTok for Business MCP. Agentic Leads points the same agent model at the advertiser's customers instead of its media buyers.
Availability
TikTok has not given a launch date, markets or pricing. The newsroom post says the agent "will be available" across multiple surfaces, and the blog post says TikTok's agentic solutions are offered through eligibility-based testing. Advertisers who want access are told to contact their TikTok sales partner.
Neither post says which CRM systems Lead Agent connects to, or how leads and their conversation context are delivered to the advertiser.
Recap
What is TikTok's Agentic Leads?
Agentic Leads is an AI agent for lead generation that TikTok announced at Advertising Week New York 2026. It holds a conversation with a prospective customer, answers their questions and qualifies them, and will run in TikTok Direct Message and in lead forms on advertisers' own websites.
How does Lead Agent qualify a prospect?
Advertisers build a Knowledge Base of brand-approved information such as offer details, FAQs and eligibility requirements, then choose which information the agent can use and which questions matter most for qualification. The agent answers questions, gathers those details and captures contact information with consent.
What changes for advertisers running lead-generation campaigns?
Leads arrive with the context of the conversation rather than as a bare form submission, and the agent can sit on the advertiser's own website as well as inside TikTok. For now it is offered through eligibility-based testing, arranged through a TikTok sales partner.
