X has introduced the beta version of its TV app. In April, X’s CEO, Linda Yaccarino, announced that “soon, we’ll bring real-time, engaging content to your smart TVs with the X TV App,” and that the TV app “will be your go-to companion for a high-quality, immersive entertainment experience on a larger screen.”

Following Yaccarino's announcement, X’s engineering account, on Tuesday said the TV app “is now available on several app stores.” 

About X’s new TV app

X’s TV app will allow users to stream and browse video content directly from their smart TVs. Previously, watching X's video content on TV required casting from a mobile device. Users can now sign in with their X accounts to access uploaded and live-streamed videos directly on their TV screens.

X claimed the new TV app “marks a massive leap forward in transforming X into a video-first platform and unlocking new opportunities for creators, advertisers, and our partners.”

How users can access the X TV app

The X TV app is available for installation on smart TVs via Google Play, Amazon's app store, and LG's app store. However, it is yet to be available on Apple TV or the Apple App Store for tvOS.

The introduction of the X TV app reflects part of Musk’s vision to transform X into an “everything” platform. The company is also testing a new video conferencing feature to compete with services like Zoom and Google Meet. 

X has also rolled out ‘Trend Genius,’ a tool aimed at helping advertisers capitalize on trending topics, and has secured a payment license in the District of Columbia, expanding its financial service offerings.
