On Tuesday, YouTube announced that it has deepened its collaboration with Shopify, offering new opportunities for merchants and creators. “Today we’re expanding our partnership with Shopify, so more merchants can make their products available for creators to tag in their shopping content,” YouTube said. 

YouTube first entered into a partnership with Shopify in 2022 to help creators and merchants showcase their products directly within the app. This expanded partnership will allow Shopify Plus and Advanced merchants in the U.S. to join the YouTube Shopping affiliate program, enabling their products to be tagged in creator content.

According to Shopify, “The program allows you to seamlessly sync your products from Shopify to YouTube so thousands of eligible creators can tag your products at scale in their videos.”

How it will benefit Shopify merchants

For Shopify merchants, YouTube claimed the partnership would offer an opportunity to increase visibility. Shopify merchants “can join the ranks of hundreds of U.S. brands using the YouTube Shopping affiliate program to enable thousands of eligible creators to showcase your products at scale in their videos.”

With the YouTube Shopping affiliate program, brands can leverage the influence of YouTube creators to promote their products to a wide audience through creator-tagged content. 

The integration simplifies the management of affiliate links, content, and performance metrics through the Google Merchant Center.  

Merchants who want to participate in the YouTube Shopping affiliate program can use the Google & YouTube app on Shopify.
